A Land so Wild and
by doctornerdington
In 1845, the HMS Erebus under the command of Captain James Sholto departed England on a voyage of discovery to find a Northwest Passage through the perilous arctic waters separating the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. It was never heard from again. Five years later, Captain John Watson of the Investigator sets sail to recover the Erebus and determine the fate of Sholto and his men. Naturalist Sherlock Holmes takes a berth on a scientific mission to catalogue arctic fauna. What they find could strike a killing blow at the very heart of the British Empire.

Basically I binge-watched all of Nancy Drew and then the first season of Downton Abbey and somehow this happened. Enjoy, nerds! Will probably get a wee bit spicy later on.Update: the further we get into this, the more I realize that it’s way too feminist and socialist for Downton so we’re going full Miss Fisher now and all the sexy times that implies.

Raising Your Eyes to a Wider Morrow

Crowley hadn't actually set out to get involved with the woman suffrage question. March Sister Suffragette
by DroughtofApathy
Dorothy Leighton occupied a rather tenacious role in the Woman’s Suffrage Movement. An immigrant from the Orient, she’d had her name changed to something far more American by the border officials back when she was barely old enough to talk, let alone understand. When the National American Woman’s Suffrage Association began gaining traction in New York, she marched right down to Carrie Chapman Catt’s headquarters to offer her expertise. And when Alice Paul forcibly stormed away from NASAW to create the National Women’s Party, Dorothy hastened after her.
