safety net

Dick can see it—can see Jason’s face change, concentration slipping into shock—no time for fear, no time for terror, just pure, plain surprise as the rope snaps.

It just so happened to be that, on the way to find the antichrist now hiding away in America, with little time until Armageddon, Crowley and Aziraphale happened upon a trio of monster hunters intent on doing the same as them.

If The Archivist Had Been Meant To Fly....
by Angel Ascending (angel_in_ink)
“You still have hope! I can see it there in your eyes!” Simon sounds delighted. “Oh, you are much more resilient than Peter gave you credit for. You think your Archivist will come for you?” Simon gestures towards the perfect, endless sky. “Even if he does find a way in, there’s only one way he can go. The same way you’re going.” Simon chuckles smugly, eyes shining. “After all, if the Archivist had been meant to fly, he would have been given wings!”

Hard Landings
by CKBookish
Damian stood at the top of the dinosaur, biting his tongue as he worked to pull the dust cloth through the links of the chain keeping the top heavy robot from falling forward. He grunted as the cloth stuck in the links for the fifth time since he had started the horrid task of dusting. Alfred was mad at him, and so Damian was stuck cleaning the cave from top to bottom. Damian felt the butler was overreacting, it wasn’t as if he had actually put the itching powder in Drake’s suit. He had only planned on doing it. Father hadn’t thought it funny either. Richard would have at least snorted. Damian thought he would anyway. Todd had told him of a long prank war between him and Richard that lasted nearly a month when Todd was Robin. It had only ended after both the Batsuit and the Batmobile were pepto bismol pink. Damian sighed. He didn’t understand. He thought it would have been funny. Evidently, he couldn’t even prank correctly.

Then there’s Scott, the winged elf ruler who emanates elegance and has a smile that burns like sunlight. And if Jimmy isn’t careful, that smile will cause him to plummet and drown.

All Whispers Know Where Whispers Go
by APanic
Tony Stark enters a cave in Afghanistan with shrapnel in his heart and a compromised rib cage. He leaves it with a suit of armor and a dragon hatchling. * Or: the one in which Tony Stark accidentally hatches a dragon that should have been extinct, makes friends with a Norse god, and somehow gets caught up in a universal spring-cleaning led by some guy with a rock collection.

There's nothing in the sky except for him and the wind. Few birds travel near the breach, something seeming to warn them away from the area. Regardless, it's all the better for his flight. Link looks forward and finds himself with barely enough time to feel shocked when he finds the air in front of him not so empty anymore. He wishes it had been just a bird.-Or, in which Wild is gliding for 'bird-man' research purposes until he very much is not anymore.
