baby don't hurt me
by softlyblue
L’homme Distrait is a painting in the corner of the room, below a collection of Renoir’s studies of water. People’s eyes pass over it, oddly put off, although there isn’t much wrong with it. At first, anyway. It is by a young man named Alfred Sisley, and it is odd because Sisley is known (already) for his landscapes. It is a very small canvas, all light and the spill of shadow, the press of a hand against a pillow, the fall of hair along bare shoulders, a shirt slipped down to cup the upper arm, to reveal a smattering of intimate freckles along the back of the neck, trailing ever-downwards. Morning sun spills through the window the figure looks out of, and his face is hidden by the picture, captured from behind. His fingertips press into the pillow, clutching a little of the fabric, and what little the viewer can see below him shows bare feet tucked underneath bare legs, a tantalising peek at whatever else might lie beneath. It is tender.

It was alright. It wasn’t like he didn’t need the stability. It wasn’t like he didn’t pour his heart and soul and last pennies into those paintings. Then Steve ran into someone and it was like the day wanted to get worse. Smol Steve Appreciation Bingo 2020: Historical AU

i made a mess of (6) julys
by ebullienttae
"I feel like the past 6 Julys I’ve made an uneventful mess of myself.”Namjoon hummed in understanding. “Then, try to make this July your own. Take a trip, try to talk to more people. I know the people here haven’t always given you a chance, but I think you could really break them out of their molds.”“Maybe, but I feel like I’ve already tried that. How can I even make July my own? It doesn’t make that much sense to me,” Jeongguk huffed, shutting his eyes in annoyance.Jimin smiled wistfully down at him. He was worried for Jeongguk, he just wanted him to be happy. He knew he would be ok though, he knew he would make something of this summer. “You’ll find out soon, Guk. I know it.”-the au in which Jeongguk experienced 6 long and boring summers in Boseong, until Kim Taehyung came and turned it all around.

Like Water Lilies and
by PurlsAndLace
This last week had been the stuff of nightmares. Terror, shock, pain, tears, exhaustion, and now she was empty and numb. She sat in her car at the edge of an urban forest park because she couldn't bear to go back home. It hadn't felt like home for days and likely never would again. The hands she'd buried her face in still smelled like hospital soap, that fake cherry scent over heavy disinfectant. She desperately wanted comfort, that one pair of arms she could sink into and let go of everything that had happened. It didn't matter that he wasn't due back yet. She would wait until he showed up. This story is told twice. Here is the original tale, told in order, but with the broad strokes and dream-like quality of a fairy tale telling. You are meant to dream along.Art Inspiration:Water Lilies by Claude MonetSunflowers by Vincent van GoghFor depth of detail, and later expansion, read Ten Thousand Afternoons on the Isle of Dongbaek.
