Based on a couple of implications in Sonic Forces that don't line up with Infinite's canonical backstory, Project Infinite is an exploration of what could have, potentially, been an original idea for his character that got scrapped.As a creation of Eggman that was inspired by the notorious doctor's late grandfather and his pursuit to produce the ultimate lifeform, this story follows an artificial Infinite the Jackal after the war, having been saved by the very same wolf that helped take him down and struggling to adapt to a life outside everything he's ever known.No longer having a purpose, Gadget teaches him that he can decide his own - regardless of his origins.IMPORTANT NOTES: This story is outdated and will be left online, but no longer updated on this site. Its been three months since the war came to an end, three months since Infinite disappeared off the face of the planet. Gadget has been keeping himself busy working with the restoration but things still felt off from the lack of resolution after everything that had happened. His work takes him to a small oceanside town that's in need of rebuilding, but things quickly take a drastic turn when the mountains start to break apart. And left in that destruction is the heavily damaged form of a once unstoppable Jackal, what do you do with one of the most detested villains in an organization that favors redemption? Gadget had a front row seat in learning the answer. AKA the author thinks that there's not enough fics of these two and wants to throw their hat into the ring and explore some concepts between working :]
