When Shanks is captured and imprisoned in level six of Impel Down, he thinks his day can't get worse. That is until he discovers is cell mate is a four-year-old with rubber powers that the government, for some reason, is experimenting on. He's determined to get them both out and to safety. Luffy and he will be free, he swears it. And then, after that... well, he hasn't thought that far ahead yet, but that's not important. It's not like he'll get so close to this kid that he won't be able to leave him behind once he's located his true guardians, right? * * * "You're not looking too good. Are you sure you're ok?" A hushed voice asks Shanks from the cell next to his. When Shanks doesn't even twitch in response, his neighbour seems to take pity on him. "Say, not sure if you're the religious type but it's not like there's much to do down here anyway. You should try praying to the god of the sun, Nika, have you heard of him?" Shanks almost laughs out loud. Yeah, he's heard of Nika. He's down the fucking hall getting tortured like the rest of us. He's also four years old, he wants to say.
