Or, well, Will supposes Hannibal Lecter is sort of the god of lavish parties. “What’s the phrase – penny for your thoughts?” Hannibal appears at Will’s elbow as though summoned by his passing thoughts. It isn’t the first time Will wonders whether Hannibal might have a touch of deeply buried empathy himself. Or if it’s just Will’s thoughts he seems to read with ease and aplomb. And deadly results. If Hannibal Lecter gave Will a penny for his every thought, he thinks even the great and disgustingly wealthy count might go bankrupt. “Just taking in the noble goals of the FBI’s finest,” Will murmurs sardonically, eyes flitting through the laughable resolutions for the new year. Lose ten pounds. Give up coffee. Gym twice a week. Travel more. Tell him how I feel about him.
