A Mid-Summer’s Night Dream AU of Supernatural.Using the cast of Supernatural and without the long winded “Shakespeare” phrasing, this story is easy to read. The play and movies, have such “fun” of repeatedly mixing up the two women. Ruby and Castiel play the two roles. No confusion here! Sam and Dean are their ‘star-crossed’ lovers. This story follows Shakespeare’s story with all 25 speaking parts. The only addition is Rowena the witch. She gives a reason why Dean drops Castiel and chases after Ruby. (In the play, he drops his former love, because.. I’ve never understood it, either.) Ruby’s father, Lucifer, objects to her marriage to Sam, because of the drop of demon blood in him! (Again, much stronger reason, than in the play. Where the father objects because.. Whatever.)On the shortest night of the year, everything goes wrong. Dean wants Ruby. Ruby wants Sam. Sam wants Castiel. Castiel wants Dean. What?As in the original, Chuck and Amara, the “King and Queen of the Fairies” and Crowley, “Puck” have a hand in the mix up and resolution.Wish I’d read this version, before Shakespeare’s original.
