Summary
Unaware of her true origins, the young woman, known as Vera 4, is unlike other women of the City of Domes. She is DS, the only female so permitted, besides her mother, Francis 7's pairmate Vera 3, but is still a virgin--a condition rare in that time and place. The love of her life, she believes, is Logan, except she spurns him at the last moment and discovers where her heart truly lies. This relationship leads her into a dire set of circumstances which challenge her previous conceptions, as well as her mental and emotional strengths.
