Summary
People not having a soulmate was rare, but not unheard of. It was always a tragedy when one found out they didn't have that one person that would complement them just right, would bring out all the best in them. So yes, not having a soulmate was, while rare, not unheard of. But not wanting your soulmate? Having one but feeling repulsed by the mere thought of any of the typical soulmate-stuff - holding hands, kissing, having sex, building a family, having a relationship - that wasn't normal. It wasn't okay. It was a sure sing that you must be broken. Sherlock was, as far as he knew the only broken person in his family, his school, his college, the whole damn world.
