Summary
He tries to think about goofy jokes and loud laughs and video game nights, arguing over a single blanket before they decide to share like they didn’t know they would right from the start, too-early mornings when the thought of school stings but the thought of seeing Okuyasu makes up for it. But anxious and tired and during some impossible hour of the night, his imagination falls short.
And as he grasps for it, feeling a little desperate, different thoughts seep into his mind – cruel and insistent, thoughts he really, really doesn’t need right now, dripping with venom and clinging like forest mud from late-October treks and taking roots against his best efforts.
No matter how hard he stares, Okuyasu’s form is just…still. Too still.
