Summary
Toshinori was ready for this. There were many possible word combinations that could worm their way out of Midoriya’s mouth, all of which Toshinori was prepared for. As Midoriya’s father figure, the person who was always there for him, Toshinori had to be ready to comfort, to reassure, or to shut down. He had to be ready to support and encourage Midoriya.
“Kacchan...” Midoriya sniffled, and then he mumbled something so hushed Toshinori had to cock his head to the side to hear even the smallest peep of his voice.
“Come again, my boy?”
Midoriya tucked his head down. “... Kacchan kissed me.”
OR: Toshinori reflects on what family means to him, and Midoriya doesn't have to face his troubles alone. (He has Toshinori- a father figure, a predecessor, a mentor, a teacher, a friend- in his life for a reason, after all.)
