Summary
At first, Hubert had been reluctant to leave Enbarr, and particularly Edelgard. Still, Dorothea had convinced him that he had given all he could to the cause and that he deserved to have a life of his own, outside of his obligation to Edelgard. Edelgard herself had agreed with Dorothea, and eventually Hubert had relented. So they had picked a suitable successor to his post: a young woman, who had trained at one of Ferdinand’s new schools… and a commoner! And then Dorothea and Hubert had retired to the countryside. Because Hubert had money from his family’s estate, they could buy a cobblestone cottage on the edge of town and establish their lives in a new place, free of constraints and obligations.
Dorothea and Hubert go to watch a bard in the sleepy village that they now call home. What will history make of them?
