Rose Window

The floors were a dark walnut, faded and rotting and beautiful. The matching pews split down the center to form a long aisle to a simple altar. Standing before it was the prince, arms hanging at his sides, leaning forward like a bird about to take flight, head angled up toward the great source of light that washed the chapel in color. The stained glass wasn’t like the large cathedrals in the cities. It was ancient and crude, warped and thick. Yet the colors and shapes twisted and joined to form an unmistakable likeness of the Goddess, her glowing eyes casting light on the prince’s hair in a crown of emerald. --Dimitri and Felix, through the reflection of stained glass.
