Summary
Heavy uncomfortable memories of the simpler times wash by George’s mind, short snippets of open meadows consisting of his older friends. It was before all of them were cursed with their own misfortunes of growing up, some clearly faster with the downsides of war and victory. He wonders what went wrong. Perhaps the fury that resided in all of them or the hours spent too far away from the joy that once graced all of them with the hope of new possibilities in the foreign world.
