Diluc's breath caught in his throat. He never had apologized, had he? It just… when he returned, he was so busy with the winery and Kaeya was avoiding him. Then they fell into this pattern of hostile banter, where Kaeya would insult him and he'd insult him back. It wasn't how they used to be, not even close, but as long as he could be around his brother again, he hadn’t cared. Kaeya always seemed so annoyed while in his presence, so he matched his demeanor. Soon it became comfortable, the new normal.
"I'll make it up to him," Diluc promised.
Jean shook her head, her eyes downcast. "At this point, I'm not sure you can."
(Or: Kaeya gets hurt and Diluc's protective Big Brother Mode activates. In the process, he realizes how much he misses his brother and he starts to regret the way they've been treating each other. But does Kaeya feel the same?)
