summer sunrise

Hua Cheng cooks his favorite meal, encouraged by Xie Lian. His favorite song plays and he accusingly gazes at Xie Lian who grins, eyes crinkling sweetly. He attempts to flip the pancakes that Xie Lian had taught him so many years ago. He's chases after them, tittering dangerously on his tiptoes as Xie Lian gasps and laughs brightly. Then, he's laughing, so excited for tonight; a looming shadow at his feet, ready to swallow when time comes. For now, Xie Lian's smile is everything. He's dancing before he knows it, Xie Lian clapping along to the song and Eming is jumping on the counter, Rouye's jumping between Hua Cheng's wild feet. And Xie Lian watches how his small family comes together, Hua Cheng a beautiful being of sweeping black hair, a tender black eye and a lovely little smile that does things to Xie Lian."San Lang," He thinks, giggling as Hua Cheng turns to pick up the pan of pancake, his hips wiggling as he comes around the counter to Xie LIan. "Thank you"
