Loose Ends

In the summer following her first year of college, when the dust has settled after the big Initiative battle, Buffy gets a chance to process all that happened and belatedly realizes that turning Ethan Rayne over to a corrupt government organization was a bad call. As someone who is destined to protect people (even the stupid ones), she can’t in good faith leave him to rot without at least knowing he’s not in danger of being tortured. Riley doesn’t agree, and so she must turn to someone else willing to go along with her rescue attempt. Someone who doesn’t much care for the government, or locked doors, and who might just want a favor of his own in return.
