"Sometimes it’s his own voice screaming at him about his own flaws and drawbacks. Neither hurts worse than the other, and both often knock him off his feet or keep him in his lab where the outside world can’t hurt him. Which leads him to wonder once their voices quiet down if maybe he’s not locking the monsters out, but locking himself in.
