Not Mayor, Not Human, Not Demon

“How were you before, y’know like before Lady and everything? What was your name?”

This is what the boy asks, after a grueling day of training, bruises littered over his body, and cold creeping into his lungs. He breathes it in like always. it does not fill him, as always. The fire still lives as always. But oh, does it burn today, how the flames rise high, reach behind the boy’s chest, to ask a question. Greedy little things, flames are. Curiosity anew for a boy who needs none of it. A weapon that wondered. Not Mayor laughs. “Tired of calling me Not Mayor?” The fire flickers. The boy stutters and looks away, mumbling, “... I did want to know your actual name. Only called you Not Mayor cause you-you weren’t the mayor. You’ve got to have an actual name”. Or, the Mayor knows his life is a tragedy. The boy doesn’t. 5 times Not Mayor thinks about MK as he works under the Lady Bone Demon, and one time he realizes something is wrong (with him).
