Danny Fenton is trying to settle in at university and finally find a balance between the supernatural and his normal life. Being phantom has always taken priority over being a normal kid, but just as he's trying to chase his own dreams for the first time, he's drawn into a circle of magical intrigue that only he can help settle. Shadows circle Jamie Bennett as he starts his freshman year in high school, the only full human involved with the defeat of Slaedst last summer. With their true master defeated, who else is controlling them? Before Jamie can find out, he's dragged back into the mess against his own will, though at least this time he has the power to fight back. Danielle has been traveling the world on her own terms, but when she hears her friends could use her help, she's happy to come in as the one free agent among them – even though she's just discovering why she cares when people get hurt.
