Summary
“Hey…” he glanced down at him, hands up, “child. Any chance you could… not burn down our garden?”The kid wrinkled his nose.“And by that I mean… Can you put out the fire on our well?” he asked nicely, as much as he could manage. The kid turned to the well, and seemed to notice for the first time the blaze on his right. His eyes flicked back to him, like he was unsure. Not at him, thankfully. But the fire didn’t go out; it was empowered. The fire traveled up to the wooden roof, which would surely catch. He started to object, opened his mouth to yell a warning, but the fire spread out like wings, a halo bursting outward. It seared the grass—around the daffodils—and traveled outwards, past the boy who charged it. Techno threw up his arms to protect his face—A tingling sensation in his arms, but no more. When the light disappeared, he lowered them slowly, making sure that there wasn’t a threat of a second wave. When he was sure it was secure, he took a look to check for burns on his forearms. He didn’t find them.He found daffodils instead.////Winter is cold and everlasting, but a frightened, traumatized boy might be willing to warm a kind priest, and his family, up.
