Except for one day, Daiyu Mei escapes and tries to finish her revenge. Danny pulls through, and Steve contemplates leaving but then he sees Danny fighting for breath, giddy that Steve was holding his hand. He decides to stay, like he decided to keep Daiyu Mei alive. He brings Danny home, parks him on the couch and mother hens him, just like Danny has done for him. The blonde detective looks at Steve one day when they are sitting on the beach, sun on them. Despite his adamant rants, Danny loves Hawaii and its people as much as Steve does. "You looked like you wanted to run," Danny says, eyes closed.
