The paper crumples in his fist, and he squeezes his eyes shut against the pang of hurt-longing-anger-misery that goes through his heart. It is a familiar pain. Breathing in deeply, he opens his eyes and lets the balled up paper fall. Trembling fingers reach for the plug, and pull. The faded picture of two men, laughing and jostling each other, with the blond kissing the dark-skinned wizard beside him and smirking at the blush that promptly follows, swirls down the drain of the toilet. Harry closes his eyes and digs his nails into his palm until the image of that smirking mouth, those eyes lit up with joy, fades from behind his eyelids. It never does.
