Summary

There has never been a time where Jaskier has regretted letting his guard down more than right now. Ever since he’s joined Geralt on the Path he’s learned pretty quickly that in order to stay alive one has to constantly be alert. Scan every room for any threats. The lesson was even more instilled into him once he took on the mantle of the Sandpiper. It wasn’t to say that Jaskier wasn’t on guard because he was! He just snuck Yennefer and a few others onto a ship to keep them safe so he had to be on guard but it doesn’t matter if you see the threat coming or not if you don’t have the physical capabilities to protect yourself. Jaskier goes over that movement every time he’s left alone to think.

or...

What really happened to Jaskier when he was taken by Rience.
