Summary
Tubbo sighed, and the afternoon sky that lived in his gaze said that, maybe, things would eventually be okay.
“I see you,” Ranboo murmured. “All that you’ve done to protect us. How hard you’ve been working.”
“It’s for the best,” Tubbo whispered back. “I just want to make sure you and Michael are safe.”
Ranboo took a breath. The words caught in his lungs. He breathed out. The words didn’t matter anymore. Not tonight. Not when they were supposed to be okay.
“I’m sorry for pushing,” he said.
“It’s fine.”
Tubbo’s face didn’t change. Ranboo couldn’t tell if it was another lie.
Or; Ranboo knows Tubbo like the back of his hand. He knows how to force a laugh from his throat, how to help him calm down, how to make him angry. They feel safe with each other, if nothing else, but both have been burned countless times before. Tubbo feels like he’s falling apart at the seams, and Ranboo doesn’t know how to tell him he’s not alone.
