Im mystified by the ways

It starts with small things, or at least…things that would seem small to anyone else, but those things are like glaring red neon signs to Gram once he starts paying attention. This Black seems lost in the hallways of their university, seems confused in the middle of class when Gram knows for a fact that Black knows all of this material inside and out despite the fact that his attendance is spotty at best, and carries himself with a hesitant sort of awkwardness that Gram has never seen from his friend. This Black had seemed startled to see him, bordering on anxious. He'd been downright skittish and it had made Gram's nerves prickle in all the worst ways because it was wrong, wrong, so wrong.
