After a second in the silence, their eyes locked. They stared, not wanting to break eye-contact. “I’m sorry,” The apology slipped past the freckled boy’s mouth, coming out soft and a little sad. “Mike, why are you apologizing?” Voice just as soft as Mike’s.
He watched as the boy quickly tried to compose himself, “I’m sorry for everything,” Will was confused. “You know? All those months I spent not sending letters, not calling you,” The brunette’s expression softened at the boy’s explanation and just as he was going to say something, Mike continued, “Or when I was being a bad friend and choosing to not hang out with you.” Mike broke eye contact, sniffling to himself.
