They need Scytale to willingly cough up the secrets of spice making. Duncan investigates how Marty and Daniel were able to contact him -- or was it the other way around? Teg, the Rabbi and Rebecca lead the outreach to planetary authorities, while Sheeana is avoiding her true calling, creating all sorts of problems on the way. Back on Chapterhouse, Murbella is carefully stitching together the Honored Matres and Bene Gesserit, but surprises abound while the ones with many faces are approaching. A host of new and existing characters (Bellonda, Angelika) take the stage as the Sisterhood is torn by different factions. Meantime, deep in space, strange things are happening...
