Summary

He raises his face to the sky, drawing in a deep breath. He has been pondering this for years, yet now the moment has finally arrived, he feels a persistent flutter of fear in his heart. What exactly he is afraid of, he is not sure. He doesn't believe there is a heaven, a hell. Even so, his eyes slide shut in a silent prayer to whatever god will listen.

Please, he thinks. Don't let them mourn.

Midoriya Izuku attempts to end his own life. His failure leads him to discover he has a quirk—one more powerful than he could have ever imagined. Now, his dream of becoming a hero can become reality. Well, sort of. (Title from the poem "Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep" by Clare Harner)
