In the process, they come to some long-awaited realizations.Excerpt:Kaoru feels fuzzy - like she’s seeing everything through a layer of static - like she doesn’t have her glasses on. She remembers the car ride back: how Kojiro had put a hand on her shoulder and buckled her seat belt, Kojiro’s hair, the honey smell of it - so different from the time she’d actually tried to use the same shampoo in her own home. Kojiro and her hand on Kaoru’s lower back, and the pain in Kaoru’s head overpowering what would have otherwise been sheer, embarrassed giddiness as Kojiro opens the door to Kaoru’s home, and settles her on the couch.
