Deeks has been hiding for a lot of his life. He'd hidden from his past, from his classification, and from his own emotions. It bothers him because he’s the best undercover cop in this branch of LAPD and a damn good cop. He doesn’t understand why his boss doesn’t get that. He doesn’t understand why he’s being judged on appearance instead of his skills and arrest record. Deeks expects to be left alone, to never see the NCIS agents again. Instead, he’s offered a job. One that just so happens to give him a brand new opportunity to flex his undercover skills. Hiding in plain sight has always been more fun for him anyway.
