Summary
Eugene's POV as he takes down Thornhill…and is, perhaps, a few shades darker with how far he's willing to go compared to canon.
"Maybe she had been his favorite teacher. Maybe he had actually been interested in the plants she taught about. Maybe half the reason Wednesday stayed with his club was because he knew almost as much about poisonous insects and plants as she did, due to how much he read ahead for Ms. Thornhill’s class.
And maybe all that was why creature hating, pilgrim resurrecting, and outcast hunting Laurel Gates had let her perfectly tamed murder machine spare him. Maybe she had thought he was one of the good ones. Maybe she had gotten attached.
Too bad for her, Eugene hadn't."
In which I dissect what kind of creature Eugene must be to attend Nevermore, how far he's willing to go for his hive, and flesh out his backstory a teensy bit. (Also our boy is powerful and I acknowledge it ❤️)
