Summary
I meet Costis Ormentiedes and Eugenides, King of Attolia, in the king’s apartments, which are far less ostentatious than one might expect for the accommodations of a sovereign. When I comment on the simplicity of our surroundings, the king explains that his wife, the Queen of Attolia, has retained the royal apartments, which she occupied before their marriage when she ruled alone, while the king prefers these smaller rooms.
As fascinating as I find the living arrangements of the monarchs, I settle into the interview I came here for and ask Ormentiedes and the king how they met. The king’s eyes light up and he says, “He punched me in the face!”
A one-shot written in the form of a “human interest journalism” story about Gen and Costis’s friendship, set shortly after the events of The King of Attolia.
