you were in love or so

riff lorton has never had a good thing in his life. except for the jets. they’re his guys, his family. he’d go to war for them. (he has, too.)but when he meets a pretty italian girl on the street one day, his world is flipped on its axis.it flips again when he discovers that she’s not italian. and again when he discovers she’s the younger sister of bernardo vasquez, the leader of the sharks.the two gangs hate each other, but riff is always looking for ways to rile bernardo up.his plan: pretend to date maria to annoy the hell out of bernardo.why? because he can.he wasn’t expecting to catch feelings along the way. now he has to deal with the impending rumble and keeping maria out of trouble and away from the knowledge that he doesn’t actually love her.of course, riff has always been a magnet for trouble and no matter what he says, he can’t shake it forever. it’s going to blow up in his face.the question is: when?
