Summary
He glanced over at John. He was walking slowly, taking in the scenery, always doing everything at his own pace. Atsushi's heart leapt in his chest. Looking at John was a good distraction. For a moment, he felt warm again. John wasn't looking at him, or even in his general direction. He was looking up, at the trees. Once Atsushi tried to follow his line of sight, he realised that John was looking at a squirrel – and the squirrel was looking back at him, without a hint of fear or unease. Atsushi had a feeling that everything in this park, conscious or not, loved John and was drawn towards him. And he was no exception. And John, unlike him, knew to wear a jacket. When they were getting dressed, he asked Atsushi about it explicitly, and Atsushi just brushed him off. It was going to be fine, he thought. He often went on morning walks by himself, and he never had any problems. He wouldn't have any problems now, either. In response, John just lightly shook his head as he put on his jacket, his favourite, the one with the fuzzy collar. Better safe than sorry, he reasoned. He could always take it off if it was warmer than he expected. It was better to be too warm than too cold.
