Summary
Cor stared.
The lady by his side kept talking, but the words had long since stopped registering, all of his attention drawn to the figure in the other room.
There was only a window separating them, but the distance felt incredibly large anyway. It felt wrong. Unreal. It was as if his brain was refusing to accept that he wasn't dreaming – wasn't having some sort of a bizarre nightmare he would wake up from at any moment.
The room on the other side of the window wasn't large, but the bright colors more than made up for it even with numerous toys strewn all over. Cor felt out of place, dressed in his black Crownsguard uniform.
Even then, the toddler had yet to notice him.
The toddler, barely three years old, lay on her belly on the floor, her dark hair a mess as she drew on a piece of paper. The angle made it impossible for him to see what it was that she was drawing, but he supposed it didn't really matter.
All that mattered was the fact that he was her only living relative. Her big brother.
AKA - What if Cor Leonis wasn't an only child? What if he had a younger sibling he didn't know about? What if that said sibling was Crowe Altius?
