Pipecleaners

A few moments later Wilbur returns, holding pliers. The man steps over and sits beside him, passing him the purple handled tool.Tommy knocks his head into Wilbur's shoulder as a silent gratitude, setting them in his lap as he finishes pulling the fluff away from the wire. He places what he had gathered in his hand into the pile, the red almost completely smothering the yellow underneath, just as the yellow did to the blue and so on.Satisfied that all of the fluff is gone, he picks the pliers back up and starts trying to untwist the wire.As he does this, Wilbur drapes his arm over Tommy's shoulders and pulls the teen into his side."Why, exactly, are you pulling apart pipecleaners?" Wilbur eventually questions, watching as, with a surprising amount of grace, Tommy untwists the wires. He doesn't falter, brows furrowing in concentration.Or; Tommy pulls apart pipecleaners.
