Summary
His head was buzzing with static as he tossed and turned, sleep refusing to come to him. Each time he felt himself slipping away, the haunting final words of his best friend shook him awake. Eventually he just got up and took a shower before heading to where the escape pods were.Just to check. Just to make sure there wasn’t an extra pod he could have used to escape. There wasn’t. He searched high and low and he resisted the urge to try and find another way into space to try and find Henry’s body. He had to be dragged back to base to have the medical team finally check and treat his injuries. He almost refused to go, wanting to scream and cry and swear saying that he should have died there and that Henry should have lived instead of him. That if he was just a second quicker he could have gotten Henry into that pod.(Charles finds Henry again only to have his hopes ripped back out his hands by his own impulses.)
