“I can’t--" she started, tone apologetic, “I—In light of the situation, I just wanted to--I’m afraid I haven’t been completely honest with you about my life before I joined in the effort.”
Steve frowned in confusion. “Peggy, wait.”
She held up a hand and he stopped. “I’m sorry, my darling, I have to get back.” she blinked back her tears and schooled her face. “We'll talk later, I promise. Head up, soldier. Give me a five count.”
