Summary
“I’m really not seeing the disconnect here, Aziraphale,” the Metatron says, faux patience slathered over his irritation like store-brand margarine over too-thin toast. “I’ve been very clear about my expectations for you from the start. I simply don’t know where I lost you.”Aziraphale takes a deep breath, and then another, and then, abruptly, he has Had Enough, capital letters jolly well included. Michael, Uriel, and Saraqael are gathered along one side of the cave; Nina, Maggie, Adam, and the reincarnated Son of God along the opposite; and lounging against the entrance to the cave, his never-straight spine pitching his hips out to one side, arms crossed, is Crowley, looking, to anyone who doesn’t know him quite as well as Aziraphale does, as though he couldn’t care less about what happens as a result of this conversation.
