Summary
Scott didn’t like poppies.Don’t get him wrong, they were awfully pretty. Bright red petals that looked either like blood or rubies (depending on the lighting) and a stark contrast on ebony seeds clustered in the centre. Poppies represent remembrance and are symbols of the dead. They were wonderful to look at, but that wasn’t why Scott hated them.He hated the memories.Every time he so much as just touched a poppy, memories would come flooding back to him. Memories that he could never quite recall afterwards. Scott could never remember when or where these memories happened, why he could see them through poppies, or why there was always one constant in the memories. There was always a figure with dirt-blonde hair and dazzling eyes and a cod head used as some kind of hat. They would usually trade a flower (normally a poppy) upon seeing each other, and they’d talk, go out on walks, sit in meadows or even go on picnics in lush caves decorated flawlessly in a natural yet romantic way.So because he could never understand them, Scott hated poppies.
