Summary
The girl, perhaps four or five years older, put an arm around her brother, and he leaned automatically against her side, hugging her leg. “He’s an angel,” she told him solemnly. She looked up at Crawley, eyes glowing with fervor. “Aren’t you? God sent an angel to save us.”
A low snarl rippled from Crawley’s throat. “I’m not an angel,” he spat, striding menacingly toward her. “And I didn’t come from God. God’s the one who sent the flood in the first place. God tried to drown you all. And there was an angel here, but he buggered off as soon as the rain started and hasn’t shown his sorry face since. I’m a demon, and I saved you. Got it?”
Aziraphale and Crawley meet again before the flood. Crawley has questions, Aziraphale has doubts, and they both have choices to make.
