Summary
Eli (16) sits in class, bored out of his mind watching the clock, when the teacher says something he needs to write down, he reaches over to grab a pencil but realizes he doesn’t have one. He then debates if he should ask for a pencil or just sit through class without one, since asking would mean he would have to talk to someone. Nonetheless he taps the should o a boy who sits next to him and asks him for a pencil.
