Summary
If Pat and Pran had grown up as next door best friends, Pat would have been besotted with him. They would have grown up with adults teasing them about it and Pat would have figured out pretty quickly that they were actually true. Pat having a crush on Pran would have just been known.
Pran would have grown up knowing the boy next door loved him but never having to really examine his own feelings for Pat in return. When he asks Pat at fourteen if Pat wants to kiss him, it's because he's genuinely curious and when Pat asks, "Can I?" with big wide eyes, Pran shrugs and says "I don't mind," because he doesn't.
