Summary
“I went to see Prismo,” Canyon says, bending down so her shoulder bumps against Simon’s as she shows him how to properly spearfish. She doesn’t know who tried to teach him, she doesn’t know why Simon claimed that he knew how when she’d asked: it was obvious that he didn’t and would have been eaten without her steady hands and murderous glares towards anything that might be swimming in that lake. And it’s not like Simon’s the kind of guy to be overconfident. He knows that he’s a human, and that the humans call Canyon a vengeful goddess even though all she wants is for them to leave her ancestral spring the fuck alone.“Was he as helpful as you thought he would be?” Simon asks, and she notices how he doesn’t ask her what she wished for or if she even got her wish granted.“Nah,” she says, “He wouldn’t let me punch the Lich in the shnoz because the version of the Lich that wore Billy’s face was dead forever. Apparently basically nuked by your kinda-ex-girlfriend. I’m sure you knew that.” Simon and Canyon talk (again) and Canyon thinks (again). She's learned and she's lived. A series coda.
