Severus Snape wasn’t stupid and he definitely wasn’t naive. The Potter’s must have been under a fidelius, and who would Potter have chosen if not Dumbledore? Black.And who's motorcycle was outside? Black's.If Black was the godfather, and he must be, then he would get the child and surely kill him, since he’d already attempted that through The Dark Lord. And even if Black didn’t get him, got arrested or something, where would the child go?So, what Petunia? Pettigrew? Severus couldn’t let that happen. So, he would have to take the child, adopt him, adopt Harry. Also, a bit of a warning that will be expanded upon in the Authors Note of the first chapter: Although this is a fanfic in the Harry Potter universe, you shouldn’t apply canon to it really in the slightest. Some things will remain canon, like overall certain plot points(for example Sirius Black going to Azkaban and then escaping), but this is actually my version of canon. A whole different story that just happens to happen in the same universe at the same time with(mostly) the same characters. Loads of canon stuff will be different or won’t happen and lots of stuff will happen that doesn’t in canon. Because this is a whole new canon.
