Summary
What Yelena does remember- with the help of her big sister and therapist after piecing memories together, was a much younger Yelena- probably around the age of three or four, sitting between her biological parents at a dining table that was full of food and people. Candles were lit and prayers were spoken in what she thinks was Yiddish. She vaguely remembers her biological mother teaching her how to light the Shabbat candles and how to pray with her tiny hands covering her eyes.
