Summary
Izuku knows the world isn’t fair. To everyone of course, but especially to those society sees as lesser or inferior. He has struggled against this barrier since the tender age of four, trying to at most be recognized as a person of worth and at least to be given basic human decency. He spends more effort hiding the scars of his struggles from his mother than on trying to stop the ones who cause the scars. She has enough to worry about working two jobs to support them. He just wants to ease her burden, even just a little. It was a childish dream really, he knows this: him, worthless, quirkless Deku, getting into Yuuei, even as just a Gen Ed student. He should have realized that dreams are pointless and he should have been more realistic. People like him don’t go to places like that, even if they advertised that he could. It’s time he accepted reality and just settled for whatever he’s worth. He’s tired of constantly fighting to gain ground only to gain just an inch before he’s pushed back by feet. Maybe Kacchan has been right all along, why else would he name him Deku?
