Dean and Sam Winchester roll into Blackwater expecting another routine hunt, but they soon find themselves neck-deep in a peculiar case of drownings without water. With Dean suffering strange symptoms, or perhaps just being his usual bullheaded self, and Sam unraveling the town's eerie past, the brothers confront the supernatural aftermath of a town's dabbling with the forces of lore and legend while navigating spaghetti junctions of tentacles and red herrings. As reality warps and nautical jargon inexplicably becomes their new normal, Dean and Sam must navigate both their own history and the ancient evils lurking beneath Blackwater's surface. Can they untangle this curse before it drags them under? "The Shipstorm" blends dark humour with supernatural suspense in a story where nothing is quite what it seems.It's been a very long time since I wrote a supernatural fic- but thought it was about time I did since I haven't been able to find what I've intended to write here for a good long time- a classic, in character, gen casefic with a healthy amount of Dean whump- basically the kind of fic that got me into the fandom in the first place. I hope someone else is looking for this, too!
