running out of sync

Fuyumi was packing her locker into her bag as she spoke. Her idiot oldest younger brother had made himself go missing; she had bigger problems than History class today. “I think he ran. Dad won’t find him.”“Because he’s running from Dad.”It wasn’t a question, but Fuyumi answered anyway. “Probably. So we’re going to find him.”“We are?”It was a little earlier than Fuyumi would have preferred; her plan had been to turn eighteen and then petition for custody of her siblings. That was never going to work, she should have known. Touya had been close to breaking for so long and whatever had happened had been one thing too many. If he was running, they were all running together.“Touya’s our brother. Of course we’re going to find him.”
